Quebec City is the only walled city in North America

Quebec City is Quebec's provincial capital and also its separatist heart.

The city - with its narrow cobblestone streets and distinctly Parisian flair - is picturesquely perched on cliffs overlooking the St Lawrence River.

Quebec City has the distinction of being the only walled city in North America and its old quarter is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The city's prime annual crowd-puller is the Carnaval de Quebec, the biggest winter festival in the world. The festival sees the city swept up in a blizzard of snow sculpting, dogsled riding, snow rafting, ice skating and a variety of frozen soirees.
