Colombians are addicted to salsa dancing and they do it very well.
It can be a little intimidating to get on the dance floor in the face of such competition, but there is no better way to learn some steps.
All the major cities have a 'Zona Rosa' where dozens of clubs tend to be packed on top of each other. The most famous of these are in the Juanchito area of Cali, which really gets going between 2am and 6am. There's plenty of time to sleep in the daylight hours!
Most clubs play salsa but you'll also hear cumbia and vallenato.
Advertisements for salsa lessons are generally posted in guesthouses.
