If you’re a music lover, then you’ll be in heaven in the Czech Republic.
For contemporary Czech and international music, it’s hard to go past the famous, atmospheric Lucerna Bar where you can drink and dance the night away. If you love classical music, the beautiful churches of Prague (such as St Giles Church on Husova Street, where Dvorak was confirmed) regularly hold concerts.
Walking around the Old Town, you’ll find people thrusting fliers at you for these concerts – do go along at least once. (The church concerts are beautiful; the Mozart’s Greatest Hits-type concerts have little soul and are only there to extract money from tourists.)
The Janacek Theatre in Brno and the National Theatre in Prague stage some of the best music and theatre in the world, dripping with famous names. The home of the celebrated Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is the neo-renaissance Rudolfinum building in the heart of Prague.
