With names such as Crack Pot, Appletreewick and Wigglesworth, the towns and villages of the Yorkshire Dales are full of character and characters.

There is some great hiking to be had around Wensleydale where you can visit the Wensleydale cheese factory and the Hardraw Force waterfalls - the highest drop in England.

Cross the Buttertubs Pass into Swaledale and follow the road into Richmond, located just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Richmond is a historic market town overshadowed by a Norman castle and home to the Georgian Theatre Royal, one of the oldest working theatre's in the country. Saturaday is market day with an assortment of local produce and crafts, wonder round while devouring local Brymoor ice cream or drop into a pub for a pint of Blacksheep ale.

The lower dales are home to Malhamdale; where droves of tourists visit Malham cove and Gordale scar, and Ribblesdale best known as the home of the 'Three Peaks' - Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside.
