In the summer, Dingle is inundated with visitors, many lured by visions of sweeping beaches and rugged countryside beamed to the world in the hit 1970 movie Ryan's Daughter. Scuba diving, surfing, hiking and horse riding are all popular pastimes here.
Many people also go on boat trips to the Blasket Islands or take tours to swim with the flirtatious bottlenose dolphin Fungie, who moved into the harbour in 1983 and shows no signs of retiring from his role as a tourist charmer.
