Cozumel is Mexico's largest inhabited island, and measures 48km by 16km. The island, which is part of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, enjoys an average daily temperature of 27°C, making it a great year-round beach holiday destination.
Ringed by white sand beaches, Cozumel is one of the world's most popular dive spots with a wealth of marine life - the reefs along its western edge form a long coral barrier that is second in size only to the Great Barrier Reef. Its turquoise waters are crystal clear and diving visibility can be up to 75 metres.
The calm waters of the western side of Cozumel are ideal for kayaking and snorkelling.
The centre of the island is home to dense jungle and lagoons, teeming with native birds and mammals.
Cozumel is serviced by an international airport.
