Take the Garden Route through the Karoo desert

Possibly the prettiest zone in South Africa, which is no mean feat, is the area known as the Garden Route.

It runs from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and includes the deserts of the Karoo and funky seaside towns with long sandy beaches.

The first section of the Garden Route is known as the Whale Route, where southern right whales arrive to calve.

By taking Route 62 you encounter some of the country's most stunning mountain passes. The Coastal Route stretches from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth and is the most traditional of the Garden Route journeys.

Whether you travel by motorbike or car, the Garden Route is really an opportunity to live it up.
