Go white-water rafting

Nepal's rivers offer non-stop white-water rafting action

Nepal should be known as the land of water. Thanks to the monsoons and constant snow melt, Nepal is one wet country with countless tumbling torrents feeding into frothing rivers which eventually feed into the great Gangetic plains.

In short, Nepal is a white-water rafting dream with many rivers to choose from depending on what you want – white knuckle, man swallowing rapids, or a gentle paddle through stunning scenery.

The Seti Khola and Trishali rivers are great for beginners with gentle rapids and stunning scenery, however during monsoon season both step it up a notch.

For the adrenalin junkie, check out the Marshyandi River, known affectionately as the ‘raging river’, which offers three days of intense white-water rafting on roaring rapids fed by the Annapurna mountains. Unfortunately, plans are in place to dam this river for hydropower so its ‘raging’ days may soon be over.

The Sun Koshi River, known as the ‘river of gold’ is famous in white-water circles for offering non-stop action. During high water, the rapids are so big they completely swallow the rafts – fun fun fun!
