Anywhere there’s mountains, there’s sure to be downhill mountain bikers carving new trails.
The beauty of Nepal is that the locals have already built many tracks snaking through the foothills, which they use to walk from village to village.
Over the past 10 years, keen mountain bikers have explored these tracks and now there are numerous tour companies who offer pure downhill mountain-biking trips.
One of the most popular is a two-week ride from Lhasa in Tibet over the border and down to Kathmandu. This includes the world’s biggest downhill stretch, descending 4600 metres over 150 kilometres.
