Dolphins and turtles are easily spotted in the coral reefs off Zanzibar

Zanzibar and the other Indian Ocean Island of Pemba to the north have between them some of the best diving in East Africa.

Dive sites here are suitable for every level of experience and all can enjoy spectacular levels of visibility, from 20-60 meters in waters that average a very comfortable 27 degrees.

The shallow beginners sites by the coral reefs off Zanzibar are exceptional for their marine life with dolphins and turtles among the easily-spotted larger creatures.

Experienced divers will revel in the deeper waters around Pemba where you can safely watch a good variety of sharks.
