Vermont Travel Guide - All About Vermont, United States

Vermont has some of the New Englan's finest scenery

Vermont is one of the USA's smallest states, and is located in the region of New England in the country's far northeast. The state makes an ideal destination for an outdoor holiday and has some of New England's finest scenery and most picturesque villages.

Autumn is a good time to see the foliage of the state's trees in all their red, orange and golden glory. Many visitors come to Vermont to explore Green Mountain National Forest and its 270km-long Long Trail is an aptly-named slog on foot or by bike. Vermont does not have a coastline, but kayaking and sailing are popular on the waterways, as is fishing for trout and bass. Hunting for grouse, deer, moose and hare in its untouched woods is also popular.

Vermont has terrific downhill and cross country skiing - it boasts 20 alpine resorts with over 4,500 acres of ski runs.

For travelers looking for a more relaxed holiday, Vermont offers many historic sites, galleries and museums, charming villages as well as vibrant cities such as Montpelier and Burlington.

Burlington International Airport is the main gateway to Vermont.
